As each month comes to an end, we get closer to bidding adios to 2017. Because we’re at the pointy end of 2017’s closure, individuals either panic or rejoice depending on where they’re at with their new year’s resolution goals. When I notice the end of month coming up – I don’t contemplate too much about goals and life. Instead, the feeling of delight takes over as I’m reminded that another Cars and Coffee Blackwood is coming up; my favourite motoring event in Adelaide.
My good mate Howie had just lowered his IS F so I figured I’d ride shotgun in his 311 kilowatt V8 sedan. We met up beforehand with fellow IS F owner – Adam, so the 5.0 litre Lexus pair could have a play date.
It’s been over a year since I’ve last posted about Cars and Coffee Blackwood. I’m a regular most months but usually keep the DSLR at home. Fellow photographers would understand; when you’re so focused on looking through the view finder to frame a shot and release the shutter, it can be difficult to enjoy an event and be in the moment. But it’s been a while so I figured a C&C Blackwood post was warranted.
A common trait amongst GT-R owners is they take tremendous pride in keeping their vehicles in immaculate condition. If owners decide to modify, they’ll install only genuine and reputable parts. The Bayside Blue BNR34 sat on a set of 18" Volk Racing TE37 SL while the white BNR34 parked behind it utilised rims from in-house tuning division Nismo – in the form of 18" LM GT4s. Both examples rocked some Nismo exterior goodies: Nismo side skirts, Nismo rear pods as well as Nismo smoked clear front and side indicators. The white example also had a Nismo R-tune front bar installed, while the Bayside Blue car retained its original face. Prices of RB-powered GT-Rs are showing no signs of falling, with the combined market value of the trio below exceeding a quarter of a million dollars without breaking a sweat.
The turnout for September was smaller than usual. Irritated cumulus clouds and the Bay to Birdwood event (which was simultaneously on) were two understandable reasons for this. All is well though as when the end of next month rolls around, I’ll get an opportunity to attend C&C Blackwood again.
