HRCC & CMMM February 2017

It has never been a better time to be a car enthusiast in Adelaide. The scene went underground a couple of years back due to increased law enforcement presence, a string of high-profile hooning accidents (resulting in a few deaths) and the defunct of long running car shows such as Auto Salon and Small Car Sunday. Enthusiasts suffered when the weekend rolled around, with virtually no meets and cruises to attend; no venue to show off their pride and joy. Somehow, in the last 3 years, Adelaide has seen an explosion in car meets and cruises. Multiple organisations and groups sprouted out of no where to bring back regular events to the now deprived rev-heads. Balance has not just been restored, enthusiasts are now having to skip events as it is almost impossible to attend them all. Talk about first world rev-head problems! To demonstrate the latter, Saturday the 25th of February saw both the High Rollers Car Club (HRCC) as well as the Churchill Monthly Mega Meet (CMMM) scheduled for the same day and almost same time. With a one hour difference between the start time of both events, Skibeemo first headed down to the HRCC event, held at Gepps Cross before promptly cruising over to Churchill to drool over the muscle cars on hand at the CMMM.

The "PSYKO" plates have previously adored many stunning rides including a few 180SXs, first-gen Gallardo, Gallardo Superleggera LP570-4, C63 AMG and currently, a Ferrari 458 Italia in classic Rosso Corsa hue.

A Zed with an RB20DET heart from birth, the Nissan 200ZR is a rather mythical creature in Adelaide.

CMMM’s destination was a convenient 10 minute drive away from Gepps Cross. The build quality of the Australian and American species on display were nothing short of dazzling. Maybe JDM cars in Australia will be restored to a similar quality when they reach their half-a-century birthday.

With a different event on every weekend, the Adelaide car scene has truly emerged from the underground. To repeat the first sentence of this piece, it has never been a better time to be a car enthusiast in Adelaide.
